What is a safety action plan?

A safety action plan also known as a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Plan is a plan used to develop a holistic, well-defined strategy to eliminate roadway fatalities and serious injuries in a region.

Overview:

The Iron County Safety Action Plan will analyze safety needs, identify high-risk locations and factors contributing to crashes, and prioritize strategies to address them.

​

The Iron County Safety Action Plan will meet eligibility requirements that allow local jurisdictions to apply for Implementation Grants from the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. Visit here to learn more about the SS4A program.​

Purpose:

The purpose of a safety action plan is to develop a holistic strategy to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries in Iron County and act as a guide for future implementation of the safety strategies.

Study Areas:

The safety action plan is encompassing of Iron County, including: â€‹

  • Brian Head Town 

  • Cedar City 

  • Enoch City 

  • Kanarraville Town

  • Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah

  • Paragonah Town 

  • Parowan City 

  • Unincororated Iron County 

Equity Considerations:​
